Cartex® mechanical seals are fully preasembled. They are balanced, can be used in either direction of rotation and come with all the connections you need for the most common modes of operation.
The CARTEX-GSD was developed in order to be able to exploit the advantages of a gas-lubricated seal in very small seal chambers, e.g. stuffing boxes originally intended for packings. It fulfils extreme demands to environmental protection and operating safety. Due to the contact free running it guarantees a high economic efficiency.
The CGS works contact-free.The U- or V-grooves are located in the stationary seat. The CGS is adequate for sealing gases and liquids e.g. in ventilators, small steam turbines, blowers, roots compressors and pumps at low and medium sliding velocities, pressures and temperatures. Adequate for pressure reversal.
With the GSO-D a compact gas lubricated dual seal was designed which is suitable for high speed applications. The particularly short design is owing to one common rotating seat used for both the product and the atmosphere side. This face to face arrangement is designed as a double pressure balanced cartridge unit and possesses all the advantages associated with the stationary version.

The GSO-D is mainly used to seal fans, ventilators and blowers.

Mechanical seals of the H10 range have a short installation length (axial). The H10 is a compact ready-to-fit seal which can be installed in the same axial length as a "lip-seal" and can be used to seal differential pressures of up to 25 bar.
Mechanical seals of the H12N series are a cost effective version of a balanced seal. They feature the same rugged and reliable construction as the unbalanced spring seals in the Burgmann range. These seals are primarily used in the chemical sector and in water pumps.
Double seals of the H74-D series have the same design-features as the "H7" family of single seals (easy-to-replace seal faces, etc.). Apart from the installation length of the drive collar, all fitting dimensions (d1<100 mm) conform with EN 12756 (DIN 24960).
The H7N mechanical seal range is designed for universal application and the interchangeable parts concept is ideal for stock rationalisation. The seal faces are loosely inserted and can be easily exchanged, the trust ring is retained by the drive lugs preventing the springs from falling out.

New: H7N with ´Super-Sinus´ spring

Semi-split mechanical seals are used if there is a sufficient axial clearance to pull off the seal housing and seat housings until the sliding parts are accessible. I. e. only the wearing parts proper, such as the seal face and stationary seat as well as O-rings are split. The seal face and stationary seat, springs and O-rings can thus be replaced without requiring complete disassembly. Springs are arranged to be protected from the medium. The split stationary seat can be used in either side.
Mechanical seals of the HJ series are designed for media containing solids or with high viscosity e.g. sugar, paper, sewage and waste water industry. The springs are product protected. There is no sticking or clogging making the design rugged and reliable.
Mechanical seals of the HR series are special-purpose seals for use in media containing solids without external flushing or product circulation. HR mechanical seals find application mainly in the scrubbing sections of power station flue gas desulphurization systems, and they are also used successfully in the paper industry.
Mechanical seals of the HRC series were developed specially for use in standard chemical pumps. The radial and axial space has been optimized to provide ideal conditions for maximum operational reliability.
The new gas-lubricated HRGS-D was developed from the proven HRC-GSD and RGS-D range. Due to its robust design this seal is well suited for liquid and gaseous media containing solids. The entering of solid particles into the seal chamber is prevented by a gas ring building up during rotation and the resulting centrifugal forces.
The new stationary mechanical seal for DIN installation spaces is ideal for use in dirty, abrasive media containing solids, e.g. in waste water systems and the chemicals industry. The stationary part has multiple springs and faces away from the product. It is thus protected from possible effects of the medium such as sticking and clogging. The seal is suitable for pressure reversals and can be operated in tandem as well as back-to-back arrangements.
The M2 mechanical seal range features a spring loaded solid carbon graphite seal face. They are cost effective for basic applications such as circulating pumps for water and heating systems.
The M3 mechanical seals are immensly popular. Extremely rugged and reliable, they cover a wide spectrum of applications - in water pumps, sewage pumps, submerged pumps, chemical pumps, etc.
Double seals in the M74-D series have the same design-features as the "M7" family of single seals (easy-to-replace seal faces, etc.). Apart from the installation length of the drive collar, all fitting dimensions (d1<100 mm) conform with EN 12756 (DIN 24960).
The M7 mechanical seal range is designed for universal application and ideal suited for standardisation. The loosely inserted seal faces are easily exchanged, permitting all combinations of materials and stock rationalisation.

The MFL85GS series offers a wide range of applications for gas-lubricated mechanical seals in high and low temperature environment. It is suitable for liquid gas pumps, in the refinery and petrochemical industry, in tandem arrangement or as safety seal on the atmosphere side.
Mechanical seals in the MFL series have a universal field of application. They are designed for extreme ranges of temperature and for high-viscosity media. There is no dynamic O-ring and therefore a bellows seal will never hang-up. (See for details of the MFL65 stationary bellows seal.) With vibration damper for optimum running characteristics (important when there is a risk of dry running).
Mechanical seals of the MG series are amongst the most commonly used. The bellows is not subjected to any torsional stress and its ingenious design incorporates several functions, as seal face carrier, secondary sealing element and drive collar. The seal face is driven through the spring and "L"-rings. There are not bonded joints and all the face materials are interchangeable without having to modify any dimensions. Highly recommended for duties with media containing solids e.g. in waste water and sewage applications.
The MG9 is designed for application in the medium pressure and stress range and, within its operating limits, can be universally used in pumps. Just one bellows unit per diameter can be used for all installation lengths. Bellows and spring are free of torsional strain.
Metal bellows cartridge seal Large temperature operating range (-40 ... +280°C). Simple and rugged design, extremely easy to install. Equally ideal for retrofits and original equipment.
The Mtex-GSD resembles the systematic combination of the proven Mtex concept with the
state-of-the-art gas sealing technology.
Mechanical seals of the SH-range were developed for use in thermal power stations and for pumps in oil production, transport processes and water injection. The deformation behaviour of this latest generation of mechanical seals was optimized by large scale FE-analyses. For an optimum circulation they can be fitted with a pumping device. Pressures up to 150 barg dynamic and 500 barg static can be sealed. The more or less standardized inside components are adapted to the respective pumps by means of special adapters.
Unitex mechanical seals are completely pre-assembled units for use in the medium pressure and load range in conventional stuffing boxes of circulating pumps.
High-quality face and construction materials enable a wide variety of applications to be covered. They are ideal substitutes for packings without the need for complicated adaptations or preparations.

Dry gas seal for compressors.
A double arrangement is used with low suction pressure when there is no flare but an available supply of neutral buffer gas at suitable pressure. Typical applications where product leakage to the atmosphere side is not allowed are to be found mainly in the petrochemicals industry, e.g. compressors for HC gas or other hazardous gases.
Dry gas seal for compressors.
This option is used as an emission-free arrangement with connection to a corresponding flare/vent.
Typical applications where small leaks of product gas to the atmosphere side are permitted include gas pipeline compressors and process gas compressors in the petrochemicals industry.

In the tandem arrangement, two single seals are placed one behind the other. The seal on the product side and the seal on the atmosphere side are able to absorb the complete pressure difference.

If no process leakage is allowed to the atmosphere and no buffer gas leakage allowed to the product, the tandem arrangement is used with an integrated intermediate labyrinth.

Typical applications where no product gas leakage is allowed to the atmosphere side are, for example, H2-compressors, natural gas compressors with a high H2S content (acidic gases), and ethylene and propylene compressors.
